World of Warcraft: Forever will be at PAX Aus from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October, announced 28 September, and the program includes the first public dungeon reveal we have seen for this branch.
What is on stage
World of Warcraft executive producer Holly Longdale opens the convention as the Storytime keynote speaker, covering her career, "the continued evolution of the Warcraft universe", and the role of online player communities in MMOs.
She is joined by associate production director Clay Stone, who presents "an in-depth look at one of the new dungeons being added in World of Warcraft: Forever", with a behind-the-scenes account of the team's design philosophy, creative process and approach to building new gameplay experiences.
That is two separate things worth distinguishing. The keynote is Longdale on the industry and the universe. The dungeon segment is Stone on one specific new dungeon. Anyone reporting "Blizzard revealed a Forever dungeon at PAX" should be able to name which of the two it came from.
When and where to watch
Streamed live on the Warcraft Twitch or PAX Twitch channel:
- 8 October, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. PDT / 9:00 to 10:30 p.m. EDT
- 9 October, 2:00 to 3:30 a.m. BST
- 9 October, 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. AEDT
All four times convert to the same instant, 01:00 UTC on 9 October, so the listing is internally consistent. Note the timezone is correctly PDT here: US Pacific daylight time runs to 1 November, and this is 8 October.
After the keynote, Longdale and Stone host an informal signing session in the Meet and Greet room on Friday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. AEDT.
Hands-on beta at the booth, all weekend
Showgoers get hands-on time with the beta throughout the weekend, plus a themed photo experience and a 'Raid for Riches' quest card. Completing quests unlocks a Forever Pinny Arcade pin and entry into a prize draw.
Hands-on means first-hand accounts from people who are not Blizzard. That is the most useful thing this event can produce for our coverage, because everything we publish about the game currently comes from Blizzard's own posts or from a CDN manifest. A weekend of players touching the client is the first independent source of game-feel reporting since the beta opened, and we will be reading whatever they write.
Why this matters at 31 days out
Three weeks and change to launch on 4 November, and Blizzard is putting a new dungeon on a convention stage rather than in a blog post. Dungeons have been the least-documented part of Forever: the class deep dives covered four classes, the Legacy System post covered progression, and instanced content has had almost nothing specific said about it in public.
A deep dive on one dungeon does not fill that gap, but it is the first evidence of what "new" means for Forever's PvE rather than its classes. The question to carry into it is whether the dungeon is a new layout with Classic mechanics or new mechanics in a Classic layout, because those are different claims and the announcement does not say which.
The other date this sets: UwowSA's Legion 7.2.0 lands 10 October, the day after this keynote ends. Nobody planned that collision and it does not matter, except that next weekend will have both a Blizzard stage presentation and a private-server content drop to check.
What we cannot tell you
Which dungeon, what is in it, or whether the hands-on build matches the current beta branch. All of that is on the other side of the stream. We will update this when the segment airs.

Times are quoted from the post; the 01:00 UTC equivalence is our own arithmetic, checked four ways. We did not attend and have no beta client.
