September 17, 2026 — the WoW: Forever beta goes live today: Blizzard confirmed the servers open right after the Forever Q&A segment (10:30 a.m. PDT start), per WoW Classic's official Reddit post. Two more systems got developer confirmation this week — a one-faction lock on the PvP mega-server and surprise-loot itemization — both now on the hub.
Beta logistics, today
Access still comes through the Skyborne Epic Pack or Warcraft Forever Collection, or a free opt-in at the WoW Forever website that is not guaranteed (random picks). Nothing from the beta carries to launch: November 4 is a clean slate, no advantages or rewards transfer, per Blizzard's beta framing. Level cap and window — September 17 to October 21 — stay as listed. The verification hit list is the tracker's priority sheet for day-one datamining; the Q&A question post covers what we still want answered on stream today.
New: PvP mega-server = one faction only
In a Game Informer interview, Blizzard confirmed that on the PvP ruleset mega-server you are restricted to one faction — Horde or Alliance, not both, the pre-Patch-3.2 rule. The stated reasons: keep the mega-server feeling like Horde vs. Alliance, stop players hopping factions to scout and report enemy groups, and protect faction balance — with the Deep Dive's SoD-style pledge of "systems intended to support Horde and Alliance balance," most likely temporary character-creation restriction for the dominant faction.
Comfort for the private-server crowd: that is exactly the faction-locked dynamic the tracker's Vanilla/TBC-era realms run by default. The difference is scale — Forever's PvP ruleset is one shared ecosystem, not dozens of realm shards.
New: loot stays a surprise
Senior Game Designer Josh Greenfield told MMORPG.com that an item's stats only become visible when it first drops on the server — for you or anyone — and that the Dungeon Journal will initially leave encounters unexplained. The goal is discovery over pre-built BiS lists: players learn new loot and raid mechanics together, the way SoD phase launches briefly felt.
Pair this with the already-confirmed itemization — chase drops on every boss, slowed progression, "everything at 60 stays relevant" — and Forever's loot reads as an anti-datamine stance from day one. Three direct consequences worth watching in beta: dataminers fight a client that hides its own tables, first-clear races become loot-reveal races, and community wikis start from observed drops, not extracted data.
Why it matters
Today is the tracker's busiest Forever day since the reveal: the Q&A answers the hit list questions live, the beta opens immediately after, and the first real (not demo-captured) server data starts flowing. Expect the hub tables to move off [NEEDS VERIFICATION] flags over the coming weeks.
