September 15, 2026 — WarCrown completed its transition to Wrath of the Lich King Classic 3.4.5 on September 12, and Crystalsong is now open to players. The site describes it honestly: "The transition to Wrath of the Lich King Classic 3.4.5 is complete." You connect with the 3.4.5 client, not the stock 3.3.5a build the WotLK scene has run for fifteen years.
What this is
WarCrown launched around May 18, 2026, after a cramped alpha ramp described in its own launch-week post ("Launched May 18", per its roadmap). The bigger story is the client: this is a WotLK project that runs on the modern Classic 3.4.5 client, in the same spirit as Octo WoW's modern-client guide or the from-scratch rebuilds in our modern cores overview, but aimed at Wrath instead of Vanilla.
What's live now
- Phase 1 (Tier 7) in progress — Naxxramas, Obsidian Sanctum, Eye of Eternity and Vault of Archavon in 10/25 player modes; all 12 original Northrend heroic 5-man dungeons; Arena Season 5, battleground queues and Wintergrasp on a timer
- Crystalsong — the Northrend zone opened with 3.4.5 on September 12
Roadmap ahead
Phases 2 through 5 are planned: Secrets of Ulduar, Call of the Crusade, Fall of the Lich King, and The Twilight Assault. The "Call of the Crusade" phase shares its name with a current Season of the Crusade-style TBC project we also track — both point the same direction: the scene keeps rebuilding Classic-era content on newer clients.
