OctoWoW's forums reached "DDoS Round 9" today. The thread names no attacker. The posters name one anyway. Nothing is proven. Here is both sides, verbatim in spirit.
TL;DR
OctoWoW under sustained DDoS, ninth round. Forum consensus suspects Ravencraft (timing + launch rhetoric). Counter-theories: gold sellers, third-party mafia framing, infrastructure. Staff won't name names. No verified attribution exists.
The accusation (forum voices, not findings)
- Timing: Ravencraft launched Aug 22 expecting 2500-3500, drew ~500; attacks began within 24 hours (posters Defiant/Ocdonotsteal, Sep 6).
- Rhetoric: Ravencraft's pre-launch announcement called OctoWow "AI slop" (screenshot claimed, imgur linked, unverified by us).
- Posters assign "99.9% likelihood" while conceding no certainty. One notes DDoS attribution is near-impossible by nature.
- Extortion reports (per user brief, unverified here): anonymous Bitcoin demands, paid once, outages continued.
The counters (same thread)
- Kestrel (staff-side voice): floated gold sellers, refused to name Ravencraft. Posters praise the restraint.
- False-flag theory (Flemmorn/Ocdonotsteal): attacker timed it to frame Ravencraft at launch. "What I would do."
- Mafia theory (Darktifa): "the mafia Archer mentioned is Shenna + Bowser, meaning Capy + Raven." Third-party interest, not rivalry.
- Infrastructure skeptics (per brief): cheap hosting, bots, no Cloudflare vs Ravencraft's Cloudflare shield.
Why it matters here
Two Turtle-successor flagships (both tracked, both playable) in a public knife fight six days before BlizzCon. Reputation damage accrues regardless of truth — posters say so themselves ("reputation is our most valuable asset"). The scene's biggest week arrives with its loudest feud unresolved.
What's next
Watch: staff statement with evidence (none so far), attack stoppage, or third-party claim. Until then this post stands as allegations-with-counters, updated if facts land.
