Kaivax published full development notes after extended maintenance on October 8, and the headline items are a new dungeon and free testing currency.
City of Dalaran, level 30
A new dungeon west of the Alterac Mountains, available for testing now. The community has already found its secret: the Tome of Dalaran, obtained from a Black Tome behind Arugal in Shadowfang Keep transformed at the Ambermill Leyline Focus, summons an extra boss, Lyn the Ignored, past Atrexis the Grave Knight.
A launch-window dungeon shipping with a secret summon boss found by players within days is the beta working as designed.
16 free Legacy points
Testers get 16 free points for trying the Legacy System. That number is not arbitrary: 16 is the per-character spend cap from Blizzard's own Legacy post. Everyone tests with a full budget.
Systems fixes
- Dungeon kill XP up approximately 20 percent.
- Classic looting restored: creatures with no loot can still be interacted with.
- Weapon swapping within one GCD fixed, including two-hander to sword-and-board macros.
- Party-level XP penalty fixed: reduced XP from grouping with higher-level players killing lower-level enemies.
- Visual flicker on large creatures and long-distance pull behavior fixed.
The notes do not name a build number. They coincide with the beta track at 70245 and dev at 70249, and either could carry them. Server-side changes would not appear in either manifest regardless.
