September 19, 2026: past the launch mechanics and the datamine headliners, a second wave of Forever systems detail is filling in: how grouping works without realms, how inventory grows, and what the profession and collection data holds.
Familiar Faces: community without realms
Forever ships realmless: four region-wide mega-realms by playstyle (Normal, PvP, Roleplay, Hardcore arriving later), with phasing keeping zones playable. The obvious cost is anonymity, and the answer is Familiar Faces, revealed in the Deep Dive panel by lead software engineer Ana Resendez and recapped by Warcraft Tavern's Val Hull: the game preferentially phases you with players you have met before, to build friendships and rivalries, and guarantees guild members can see each other in the world. Grouping weighs three principles: Familiar Faces, Preferred Language (set in options), and PvP faction balance. Open question: how this interacts with layer hopping. Assume curtailment until shown otherwise.
Inventory: reagent bag, bigger bank
Spotted in the BlizzCon demo and written up by Tavern's Luxrah: a fifth bag slot for a Reagent bag (modern-style, holding reagents and crafting materials out of main inventory), and a much larger default bank. Senior game designer Josh Greenfield told MMORPG.com the default bank is either twice or four times current size, roughly 96 slots. Mounts move to a window and transmog stores appearances separately, so both stop eating bag space too.
Also surfacing from the data
Tavern's Luxrah is publishing the smaller datamine finds as a series: leatherworking patterns, blacksmithing plans, tailoring patterns and engineering schematics (Sep 15-17), plus datamined mount names and profession and PvP-rank titles (Sep 16). Headline level only for now: the pattern and collection catalogs exist in the files, and exact acquisition stays unconfirmed until beta tooltips say otherwise.
