Blizzard published "Explore the New Dungeons of World of Warcraft: Forever" on October 20, and it is the first complete list of the nine new dungeons with their level ranges and locations. The post states that World of Warcraft: Forever introduces nine new five-player dungeons for adventurers from level 13 through level 60, each rooted in the original game but bringing new threats, quests and adventures across the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor.

Dungeon Levels Location
Hall of Thanes 13 to 18 Beneath Ironforge, Dun Morogh
Ruins of Lordaeron 15 to 20 Ruins above the Undercity, Tirisfal Glades
Excavation Site 24 to 29 Near Thelgen Rock and Dun Algaz, Wetlands
City of Dalaran 28 to 33 Alterac Mountains
The Drowned City 35 to 40 Off the coast of Stranglethorn Vale, west of Grom'gol
Krol'dok Stronghold 40 to 45 Riverglades
Alcaz Prison 48 to 53 Alcaz Island, Dustwallow Marsh
Blackmaw Hold 55 to 60 Azshara
Shaper's Terrace 58 to 60 Northern hills of Un'Goro Crater

The first two are faction doors

Hall of Thanes is the dungeon for the first stretch of the game, level 13 to 18, beneath Ironforge in Dun Morogh. Blizzard notes the access asymmetry plainly: Alliance players reach the entrance easily from within their capital, while Horde groups have to travel into Alliance territory.

Ruins of Lordaeron, 15 to 20, sits in the ruins above the Undercity in Tirisfal Glades, and mirrors it exactly: Horde players walk in from the Undercity, Alliance groups cross into Horde territory.

Two low-level dungeons that mirror each other, one easy for each faction, is a deliberate design. It also means a mixed group that levels in the wrong order will spend its first two dungeon levels walking through enemy territory, which is worth knowing before a server plans its first raid nights.

The middle of the ladder

Excavation Site, 24 to 29, is near Thelgen Rock and Dun Algaz in the Wetlands, above Whelgar's Excavation, with mist drifting down from the mountains and errant titan constructs around a place frozen in time.

City of Dalaran, 28 to 33, is in the Alterac Mountains and the only dungeon on the list with a stated attunement questline. Alliance characters begin with "An Alarming Request" from Emissary Jacques in Southshore. Horde characters begin with "Key to the City" and "Prison Break-In" from Magus Wordeen Voidglare in Tarren Mill. This is the dungeon that was already live during beta, where testers were given Legacy points to try it, along with a secret summon boss, Lyn the Ignored, reached with the Tome of Dalaran from Shadowfang Keep.

The Drowned City, 35 to 40, is off the coast of Stranglethorn Vale, west of Grom'gol, where ancient troll ruins have risen back out of the ocean, trolls and naga have moved into the streets, and a nearby pirate ship has clearly come to a bad end.

The top of the ladder

Krol'dok Stronghold, 40 to 45, is in the Riverglades, one of the new regions, and follows ogre outrunners who have been kidnapping travellers and ransacking communities through a fortress of workshops, encampments and guarded interior passages. It is the first dungeon in the new content, and it lands in the middle of the level curve rather than at the end of it.

Alcaz Prison, 48 to 53, is on Alcaz Island in Dustwallow Marsh, a prison long rumoured to hold King Varian Wrynn, where the doors now open on the Defias Brotherhood and naga locked in conflict.

Blackmaw Hold, 55 to 60, is in Azshara, beyond a long-sealed gate, where the furbolg Blackmaw clan is fighting a corruption spreading through their groves and mountain tunnels. Blizzard calls it a substantial max-level adventure with multiple routes and bosses.

Shaper's Terrace, 58 to 60, is high in the northern hills of Un'Goro Crater: an ancient titan facility above land untouched by time, with dinosaurs, titan structures, tar pits and crystals, and a request to bring power crystals gathered around Un'Goro.

What the list settles

Blackmaw Hold is the name Blizzard uses, in the same evening's raid overview, for one of the entrances into the Barrow Deeps. That matches the dungeon list and the beta data. The alternative spelling, Timbermaw Hold, came from a designer asking a question during an interview rather than from a published list, and it is now off the table. Our ledger has been corrected with a dated note.

What the post does not do is date the dungeons beyond their level ranges. They are described as part of the game, which reads as launch content, but we are not going to turn that into a date the post does not print.
