September 14, 2026: a BlizzCon footnote with real weight. Per Mein-MMO (Karsten Scholz, Sep 14) summarizing a playday.one hands-on, Forever ships official controller support, currently in alpha, playable by attendees on the show floor.

How it works: one button toggles between keyboard-and-mouse and controller, and the interface reflows automatically, with standard menus switching to a circular radial menu. Abilities sit on the action keys combined with the two back shoulder buttons, plus a freely assignable D-pad, for over 20 assignments. Targeting runs on the two front shoulder buttons: left for allies, right for enemies, repeated presses cycling targets, holding opening direct selection. Area effects cannot be placed manually yet; they trigger centered on the current target.

The hands-on verdict: workable after a short adjustment period, with one honest fumble, a healer struggling to snap-select themselves in hectic moments. Practice should close that gap, but it marks where the alpha stands.

What it means stays carefully fenced. Previously, pad play needed external helpers; official support ends that need. Whether this is a test case for retail WoW or a first step toward a console port is unconfirmed speculation, and this piece claims neither. Blizzard has confirmed only that Forever gets it.
