September 11, 2026 — A Classic roleplay project called Everwood was announced on Discord, and it throws out more of WoW than any server tracked to date: no leveling, no raids, no questing, no dungeons. What remains is a dark-fantasy RP sim with turn-based combat, land ownership, and permanent death. Closed alpha is planned for this month.

TL;DR
- Everwood is a hard-RP Classic server set pre-Classic (ODP 22-23), Classic graphics, no HD models.
- Core MMO systems are removed entirely; progression runs through a four-tier deed system judged by GMs with AI assistance.
- Standout systems: hex turn-based combat, fief ownership with vassal relations, simulated economy with production chains, stealable mounts, permadeath.
- Tracker entry is live at Everwood WoW. Status: dev, alpha pending.
What it actually is
Most RP realms are normal servers with a roleplay ruleset bolted on — people still raid-log, just in character. Everwood inverts that: characters are ordinary people seeking wealth, fame, or peace in a hostile world, "or die trying." Lore priority goes to Classic/Turtle foundations plus the old Warcraft and WoW RPG lorebooks, explicitly discarding most post-Classic lore including TBC and WotLK.
The community pitch is unusual too: an English- and Russian-speaking blend with AI real-time translation so both sides interact directly.
The systems worth noting
Four-tier leveling replaces XP: your tier reflects deeds, role understanding (declared upfront in a character list), violation history, and DM feedback, decided collectively by the GM team. Tier maps to in-world station — a Tier 1 Warlock is an acolyte, Tier 4 a Master; Tier 1 Paladin a squire, Tier 4 a Lord-Paladin — and strength follows tier in the combat system.
Around that: player-owned mines, inns, farms, and stables with production chains, manufactories, taxes, and multiple currencies, every resource requiring player interaction; fief land ownership with vassal-suzerain relations for NPC and player nobles alike, with nobility carrying real in-world power; player-written books; equipment theft from defeated opponents; mounts that can be killed or stolen — stable them, or risk unknowingly eating stew made from your own horse; housing with real-time furniture placement; and the first slider-based character customization claimed in 22 years of WoW.
Combat runs on the project's own hex-based turn-based system inspired by classic turn-based games and WoW classes — with combat AI covering enemies, player-owned NPCs like guildhouse guards, town guards, and civilians.
Death is permanent once confirmed by the GM team — unless the character returns as undead.
Why it matters for the scene
Private servers compete on rates, content speed, and custom classes. Everwood competes on none of that because the MMO is gone. If the alpha proves the concept, it opens a lane no tracked server occupies: WoW as a client for collaborative fiction rather than progression. The closest spiritual comparison is early Turtle WoW's tight-knit era — small, lore-serious, community-run — which readers know from the Turtle successors ranking.
Moderation transparency is also stricter than the norm: two-tier rules with player rights spelled out, and moderation precedents published on the website when it launches. No pay-to-win is explicit — money cannot make a character stronger.
What is unverified
Everything beyond the announcement text: no client, no realm, no dates beyond "September 2026" for the first closed alpha (focused on customization and turn-based combat). The team asks for help two ways: carry the RP tag on Discord to grow the community, and 3D artists for hairstyles, beards, features, armor sets, housing furniture, and WMO building models — which signals assets are still being built. Treat the alpha window as intent, not schedule.
FAQ
Is Everwood playable? No. Announced, Discord-only, closed alpha planned this month.
What client does it use? Unconfirmed. Classic graphics with old models stated; Turtle-based lore suggests a 1.12-family base, but that is inference, not fact.
How does progression work without XP? Through the four-tier deed system: roleplay quality, reputation, DM feedback. Details live or die on GM execution — the highest-risk part of the design.
When does coverage update? When a website, client, or alpha date firms up. The tracker entry flips from dev when characters can actually log in.
