BlizzCon 2026 opens September 12 in Anaheim, and for the first time since WoW Classic launched in 2019, a genuine mystery product sits at the center of it: Project Camelot, the Classic+ project our tracker hub has followed through 32 datamines and leaks since October.
Here is what the evidence supports, what is plausible but unconfirmed, and what we expect to stay hidden.
Near-certain (multiple independent leaks agree)
1. The name and the pitch. Datamined store licenses from June name an internal project codenamed Camelot; the June 18 roadmap leak described it internally as a "new expansion of Classic." Expect official branding on stage — "Infinite Classic" was the working title in the October 4chan leak, but marketing may have renamed it since.
2. New content on the Vanilla map. Three separate leaks (Jun 25 zones rumor, the Jul 22 Karazhan leak, Aug 15's Dwarf Shaman clues) agree: new zones, at least one new race combination, and reworked endgame. Karazhan as a level-60 raid appeared in two independent sources.
3. A paid edition structure. The Jun 25 datamine showed Heroic and Epic editions plus a battle pass. Blizzard has shipped tiered editions for every launch since Shadowlands — this one is already priced in their systems.
4. Wrath of the Lich King Anniversary. State of Azeroth promised Classic news after the August 27 Black Temple opening, with BlizzCon named as the venue. A Wrath Anniversary reveal alongside Camelot fits the pattern set by Vanilla and TBC Anniversary editions.
Plausible (single-source or inferred)
- Spellblade class — rumored June 20, never corroborated. If a new class appears, this is the front-runner.
- Level cap above 60, phased — the July timeline math suggested 2027 release, which implies a longer leveling arc than Vanilla's.
- Fresh-start seasonal realms at launch — consistent with how Anniversary editions launched, no direct leak yet.
What we don't expect on stage
A release date. Everything points to 2027. Expect a window at best ("next year"), with beta signups opening immediately after the panel — that's how Diablo IV and Midnight handled it.
Private-server QoL concessions. Dual spec, group finder, guild banks — community wishlist items that leaked feature surveys touched on. Blizzard historically announces these quietly in patch notes, not keynotes.
What it means for the private scene
The shutdown campaign that cleared Turtle WoW, Stormforge, Everlook and others through spring looks different in hindsight: the field was being cleared for this announcement.
