"Classic Plus" is one of the most-repeated terms in World of Warcraft discussion, but there is no official product with that name. It's the community's shorthand for an idea: keep original World of Warcraft's foundation, and add new content, progression, and systems on top of it — rather than moving through the retail expansions.
For years that was pure theory. In 2025, it stopped being only theory.
What is Project Camelot?
Project Camelot is an unannounced WoW project name that surfaced through datamining tied to an encrypted 1.60 development branch on Blizzard's internal infrastructure. Its public name, features, and purpose remain unconfirmed — but the build activity is real and continuing.
The evidence so far, on our live Classic+ tracker:
- Encrypted 1.60 activity began appearing on Blizzard's internal infrastructure in October 2025.
- "World of Warcraft: Camelot" references went public in June 2026 alongside Heroic and Epic licensing labels.
- Lordaeron tabard textures for both Alliance and Horde raised questions about the setting.
- Build updates continue on both the 1.60.0 and 1.60.1 branches as of August 15, 2026, on the wowdev5 and wowdev2 environments — confirming continued development on a point-one branch.
Is Camelot confirmed as Classic+?
No. It's the leading community theory, but Blizzard has not confirmed the connection. The version number (1.60) doesn't reveal content or release model, and the builds remain encrypted.
What's rumored
In mid-August 2026, an anonymous forum post claimed an October 13, 2026 launch featuring a neutral Dalaran hub, a battle pass, and new races. None of it is confirmed by Blizzard or supported by the datamined builds — treat it as rumor until something official appears.
Would Classic+ stay at level 60?
Unconfirmed. Many players favor a permanent level-60 endgame, but Patch 1.60 does not prove that design. It could be a long-term branch, another experimental season like Season of Discovery, or a different kind of WoW product entirely.
Where Classic+ ideas already live
While Blizzard's plans are unknown, the ideas behind Classic Plus are already running in the private-server scene. The 2024 Turtle WoW source leak spawned a whole family of Vanilla+ projects — Octo WoW, Capybara WoW, Ravencraft, Caverns of Time, and others — each layering custom zones, classes, and content onto the classic client. And Ascension has run classless, custom-classes, and Vanilla+ seasons for years.
