TL;DR
- StarCraft site glitches on Remastered section, Sep 3, flagged on Bluesky.
- Nexon deal reported Sep 2 via Chosun, plus Dan Hay shooter and Unreal hire.
- Same 1-hour gap after What's Next that Classic Plus needs. Opening Sep 12 10:30 PDT.
Something is glitching on the StarCraft site. Five outlets reported it Sep 3-4 — Gamespot, GamesRadar, IGN, PC Gamer and Wowhead — all within hours.
The glitch sits on the Remastered marketing copy. Images twitch, text flashes. Not a normal web error. Designed static.
It was flagged on Bluesky by John Carson. The page still sells 2017 Remastered. The effect is new — Wayback Aug 23 shows clean.
Console holds 8 hidden messages — medical reports, Cargo Manifest, access without credentials, Lunar Mining Complex on Roxara, secret Theta Squadron, over a dozen unidentified lifeforms, year 2575 about 70 years after Legacy of the Void.
Reddit calls it an ARG start, with a Day 1 lore dive already up. Effect worsens over time — signal coming through, not a one-off.
BlizzCon map shows a StarCraft II and Remastered Demo section. Odd to demo an old game — unless the demo is new.
StarCraft has been dormant since Remastered 2017. Last original was StarCraft 2 in 2010, expansions through 2015. Ghost was announced 2002, cancelled 2014.
2026 brought two threads. One is a shooter reportedly in works at Arc Raiders publisher, with a BlizzCon reveal report from months ago.
The other is Nexon. Chosun reported Sep 2 that Nexon is close to finalizing a deal to develop a new StarCraft game. Blizzard declined comment. Partnership unconfirmed.
Blizzard also has its own shooter thread. A 2024 job post for open-world shooter pointed to StarCraft, led by ex-Far Cry producer Dan Hay. Hay joined 2022 and is still at Blizzard per LinkedIn.
An Unreal open-world hire, a major StarCraft 2 patch earlier this year, and digital goodies with 15-day co-op XP all add to the pile. Small alone, louder together.
BlizzCon opens Sep 12 10:30 PDT Hall D. The schedule shows a 45-minute What's Next, then a 1-hour gap before Diablo. Only such gap.
Our hidden-floor post reads that gray as the playable demo. Our schedule post has venue, free stream and drops.
PC Gamer notes the floor map shows nothing carved for StarCraft. Even if announced, likely not playable. The gap could still fit a trailer.
For our tracker, the angle is competition. The same 1-hour gap Classic Plus needs is the gap StarCraft needs. Our Classic+ tracker sits at build 69638 Sep 1 with 41 entries. Our leak roundup ranks Camelot above StarCraft on builds, StarCraft above on newspaper sourcing.
If both land, WoW-heavy panels plus StarCraft trailer means a split stage. If one lands, the gap tells you which.
Watch Sep 12 10:30 for what fills the hour. Until then, glitch plus Nexon plus gap is smoke, not fire.
