Blizzard published Priest and Warrior class deep dives on 30 September, alongside Hunter and Druid. Priest is the bigger story of the two and the one with the clearest read.

Four of ten classes are documented. This is about two of them, from a post that says the numbers will change. We have written it because the shape of the change is worth understanding even when the values are provisional.

Priest: four abilities become baseline

The post is specific, and the specific part is the level gates:

Ability Level Was
Fear Ward 20 racial, race-dependent
Devouring Plague 20 racial, race-dependent
Divine Spirit 30 talent
Shadow Word: Death 32 level 40, talent-adjacent

That is a coordinated loosening across three level gates. Fear Ward and Devouring Plague were race-dependent and are now available to every Priest at 20, which removes a racial decision that existed for two years of the game's life. Divine Spirit becomes baseline, so the talent point is free. And Shadow Word: Death arrives at 32, eight levels before it arrives in original WoW.

Priest racials were "fully re-evaluated", and the post says "Each race of Priest has two spells unique to their Race." It does not enumerate them in the text we read, so we are not going to list them from memory.

What that does to Shadow

Shadow Priest in original WoW is a slow ramp with a level-40 spike. At level 32 as baseline, the ramp is shorter and the spike is something else.

The obvious candidate for the 40-level payoff is the 16-point milestone, which both deep dives describe as new. If Shadow's power curve was compressed by moving its execute to 32, then the milestone is the compensation. That is our inference from two adjacent numbers and it is worth checking on launch day rather than believing now.

What that does to Discipline and Holy

Both specs gain a baseline execute they will almost never use, and both gain Fear Ward and Devouring Plague, which were previously the reason to pick a specific race.

For a player who levelled a Discipline Priest in Classic, the honest summary is that two of your three racial choices were just removed and a talent point was freed. That is a real change to a character's identity and it arrives without any change to the talent tree's appearance.

Warrior: Rage reliability and utility forward

The Warrior post describes "adjustments that make Rage more reliable, bring certain utility forward as baseline functionality, and sharpen the role of each specialization", covering weapons, Rage, stances and battlefield momentum across Arms, Fury and Protection.

Unlike the Priest post, the version we read does not give a level-gate table for Warrior. The framing is directional and the specifics are behind the class tab on the post, which we did not extract.

We are reporting that honestly rather than filling the gap from general knowledge of Warrior changes in other expansions. If you want Warrior specifics, the post is the source and we have not summarised what we did not read.

The two things both classes share

Talents at level 10, milestone one-point talents at 11, 21 and 31, plus the new 16-point milestone. Structure otherwise unchanged.

Dual Specialization at level 40, and talents change at a class trainer in a major city.

Both unchanged from original WoW in level, and both carrying Blizzard's warning that abilities and talents "may continue to evolve throughout the beta test".

What we cannot tell you

Whether any of it is good. We have not played it. Whether Shadow Word: Death at 32 is a buff or a problem depends on numbers in the other posts that we have not seen. And six classes have no deep dive at all, so the 16-point milestone may be universal or may be a decision for these four.

SOURCES: Blizzard's own post "World of Warcraft: Forever Class Deep Dives, Priest and Warrior", dated 30 September 2026, read from the official news page on October 2 2026. The Priest level gates, baseline list and racial note are quoted or transcribed from it. The Shadow Priest analysis and the observation about the 16-point milestone are our own inference, labelled as such, and we did not read the Warrior class tab in detail. We do not have a beta client.
