Eight months ago Anvil & Oath on Classic Era Whitemane posted "Looking for 2 healers. MC next week." Forty-seven posts later they are still at 24 members, still two healers short, still "very close." The Camelot Chronicle's Jul 6 community spotlight told it straight: a guild that turned patience into a lifestyle, a Dwarf Warrior named Thrumdar Boulderchest who is optimistic, and a server that will check back next week.
Private WoW knows this story better, because private WoW lives it at smaller scale and with a bot in the second healer slot.
The private version of "almost ready"
On the tracker's 108 servers, 35 are small, 32 are tiny, 24 are unknown. The classic-size raid on those servers is 40, 25 or 10, but the live group at 8 PM on a Wednesday is often 6 humans and a promise. Look at the WotLK solo-friendly rows that actually tell you how they cope: Old Man Warcraft runs playerbots that tank, heal and DPS on instruction, scales dungeons by party size, and fills with 78 humans at peak. Warstorm runs AI PlayerBots that have cleared ICC25 HC on their own logic. SoloCraft and Stormgarde do the same at Vanilla and WotLK. The recruitment post on those realms does not say "looking for 2 healers." It says "bots will heal until a human logs."
The other end of the same story is the guild that will not use bots and will not lower the bar. On a tiny 1x progressive Vanilla row — GryffinWow (0-10 online), True Azeroth (0-50), Origins WoW Asia (0-50) — the 40-man is a six-month project. The post goes up in June, the raid is "next week" in July, "next week" in August, and by September the post is a ritual. The tracker sees it as a popTier tag. The players see it as Thursday.
Why this spotlight matters
The Camelot Chronicle runs community spotlights because Classic Plus will be a game of guilds or it will be nothing — no LFG that fixes a roster, no cross-realm that saves a dead hour. Private servers already learned that lesson and answered it two ways: bots and patience. Both are honest. One says the guild is the content and the raid will happen when the people are there. The other says the raid is the content and the people will be simulated until the raid is there.
Neither answer is on the official Classic roadmap for 2026. Both are on the private tracker, live, with 78 humans and a bot healer tonight.
Your guild
If you run a guild on any of the 108 tracked servers and you have lived the "two healers short" month, send word. We are starting a private-server community spotlight — one guild, one realm, one quote, no fluff. The first rule is the same as Anvil & Oath's: you have to be at least two short and still logging. The second rule is you have to tell us what you did about it.
Next week we check back, just like Whitemane. Unlike Whitemane, we will count the bots.
Have a guild that fits? Find your realm page under / and use the site's contact. The spotlight is dwarven-ink free, ad-free, and stubbornly to the point.
Inspired by the Camelot Chronicle's Jul 6 community spotlight. Their guild needs two healers. Ours needs one and a half.
